
On November 22nd, 2024, Dean SHI Yongsheng from the College of Mind Education at Mekelle University in Ethiopia visited the School, accompanied by Mr. SUN Lixin, Vice Chairman of the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Characteristic Town Alliance and a distinguished alumnus of the School. Associate Professor PENG Zeyu, Director of the International Office, Director of the Alumni Center, Ms. YUAN Zhujun, and Deputy Director of the International Office, Ms. PAN Xue Jing, participated in the meeting.
PENG Zeyu first extended a warm welcome to Dean SHI Yongsheng and Chairma SUN Lixin, and provided a detailed introduction to the development history and educational characteristics of the School. He expressed that by establishing cooperative relationships and promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, the two schools from China and Ethiopia could share educational resources, complement each other's strengths, jointly cultivate talents with an international perspective and competitiveness who understand and are friendly to China, and promote win-win cooperation and prosperous development between the two countries.
Dean SHI Yongsheng thanked the School for the warm reception and presented the history, curriculum, and development direction of the College of Mind Education at Mekelle University in detail. He mentioned that Mekelle University is one of the largest public universities in Ethiopia, ranking in the top three in the country. As a member of the BRICS countries, Ethiopian institutions actively seek cooperation with Chinese institutions to strengthen cultural understanding and friendship between China and Ethiopia, provide more intellectual support and talent reserves for policy coordination and global governance within the BRICS framework, and jointly address global challenges.
Vice Chairman SUN Lixin introduced the current development of the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Characteristic Town Alliance and offered suggestions for cooperation from an industrial perspective. He stated that he would actively integrate resources from all sectors of society and build a cooperation platform to inject vitality into the future cooperation between the two institutions.
In the subsequent meeting, the participants deeply discussed possible cooperation models and opportunities between the two institutions, including the joint establishment of educational platforms for teacher and student exchange and visits, promoting the establishment of schools and provision of educational services for Chinese children of Chinese expatriates working in Ethiopia. At the same time, both parties agreed to jointly participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Global Youth Entrepreneurship Alliance platform, providing a new development platform for alumni from both sides, Chinese and African youth, and global young entrepreneurs, committed to finding cooperative strategies that can achieve win-win outcomes for both parties.
