The School of Business Gained Eligibility for EQUIS Accreditation

On March 31, 2022, as notified by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), based on the datasheet submitted by the School of Business and the results of the Briefing Visit of experts held on January 14, and upon the meeting review and voting by ballot of the EQUIS Certification Committee on March 24, the School of Business successfully passed the preliminary assessment of accreditation, and entered the formal application process of EQUIS accreditation. In the notice, the certified professionals reaffirmed the school-running level and achievements of the School of Business, and put forward positive suggestions on the next stage of EQUIS accreditation.

On January 14, the EFMD Quality Service Department and Professor Alfons Sauquet, the International Certification Director of EQUIS, organized and held the Briefing Visit Meeting of the EQUIS accreditation of the School of Business, and carried out comprehensive investigation and assessment of the development conditions and the application qualification for EQUIS accreditation of the School of Business. Senior Manager Veronique Roumans and Observer Petr Obergruber of EQUIS, leaders of the School of Business, and responsible faculty of relevant divisions and departments participated in this assessment meeting.

The assessment meeting was divided into three parts. First, Alfons Sauquet provided a detailed introduction of the EFMD and EQUIS accreditation standards and related information to the participating faculty according to the EQUIS accreditation provisions, and interacted with the participating faculty.

After the first part, Alfons Sauquet made in-depth communication with the leading group of the School of Business. Ma Tieju, the Dean of the School of Business, firstly welcomed the visit of the EQUIS expert group on behalf of the School of Business, and introduced the overall situation and future development planning of the School of Business. Hou Limin, formal Assistant Dean and Director of the Professional Master Programs Center, had an in-depth discussion with the experts on the operation and development of professional master programs, and brand building of the School of Business, among others.

Then, the experts asked questions and assessed the current situation of the School of Business in terms of governance and development strategies, teaching programs, faculty and students, scientific research, executive training, resource configuration, internationalization, social responsibility, and enterprise contact, among other aspects, and conducted detailed communication and exchange with School leaders.

In the third part of the assessment meeting, the experts gave full affirmation to the reputation and influence, the faculty, scientific research ability, and teaching quality, among others of the School of Business, and provided some suggestions and opinions in aspects including international development, and research and development.

The acquisition of the eligibility for EQUIS accreditation is a crucial step in the EQUIS accreditation process of the School of Business. All staff in the School of Business will make concerted efforts to promote the international school-running quality of the School of Business and enhance the international image of the School of Business according to the recommendations and workflow requirements of the EQUIS Accreditation Committee.

EQUIS stands for European Quality Improvement System, which is initiated and operated by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). EQUIS is known for its comprehensive and rigorous assessment, and is one of the most authoritative accreditation systems in the world. The five-year accreditation represents the highest recognition of the School of Business provided by EQUIS accreditation. The system aims to promote the educational progress and comprehensively improve the global level of management education by conducting an overall quality evaluation of the higher management education institutions. Since the School of Business successfully joined the EFMD as a member in December 2020, it has actively carried out various work related to EQUIS accreditation, which has been highly valued by the leaders of ECUST and the School of Business at all levels, and greatly supported by all faculty members of the School of Business.
