
On November 15, Clarivate Analytics, an authoritative academic evaluation institution, released the list of Global "Highly Cited Researchers 2022", aiming at recognizing influential natural and social scientists around the world. Shao Shuai, Professor at ECUST School of Business, was selected as the Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-Field for the third year in succession.
Shao Shuai, Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of East China University of Science and Technology, Deputy Dean of the School of Business, Deputy Director of the Center for Energy Economy and Environmental Management Research, Chief Expert of major projects supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, winner of the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund, has been successively selected as the Global "Highly Cited Researcher" of Clarivate Analytics, "China Highly Cited Researcher" of Elsevier, World's Top 2% Scientists (published by Stanford University team), and World's Top 5% Economists (RePEc/IDEAS database). His main research fields are energy economy and environmental management, and regional sustainable development. It's learnt that this year's list was determined based on the highly cited papers published in the 11 years from January 2011 to December 2021. A total of 6,938 scientists from 69 countries and regions were on the list, including 1,169 from the Chinese mainland. Based on data analysis conducted by bibliometrics experts at the Institute for Scientific Information of Clarivate Analytics, the selection method is specially developed using InCites and ESI according to the number of academic papers published and research performance indicators and trend data of Web of Science citation data. Web of Science is the world's largest publisher-neutral citation index database and research information platform. Natural and social scientists on the list have published many highly cited papers, which are in the top 1% by citations for their field, demonstrating their significant academic influence among their peers.
