
From May 16 to 18, the 2019 Meeting of the Master in International Management (MIEX) International Board of Studies (IBoS) was held at ECUST, during which DU Huifang, Chairman of University Council, and QU Jingping, President of ECUST extended their warm greetings to 11 representatives from the partner universities of MIEX, including Christine KRATZ, Director of Programs from ICN Business School, Jorge Manuel Iturbe Bermejo Vice President of La Salle University, Kamel MNISRI, MIEX Global Director and Chairman of the IBoS, Tatiana ISACHENKO, Vice Dean of School of International Business and Business Administration of MGIMO, Russia, Giulio ECCHIA MIEX Local Director at UNIBO, Italy, Marcia Dutra de Barcellos, Professor of UFRGS, Brazil, and Olof Lindahl, Assistant Professor of Uppsala University, Sweden.
Dr. DU Huifang expressed her thanks to the University of Bologna, Italy and the La Salle University, Mexico, for their generosity and hospitality when she visited the two universities. She said that the MIEX Program has built a network of top-notch universities, offering unique learning experience for students in an innovative and meaningful way. ECUST has been committed to increasing its global presence and the ECUST School of Business has made some achievements in the process. Dr. DU expected that the School would continue its efforts to make great contributions to the program.
President QU spoke highly of the MIEX Program and its significance for improving ECUST’s international presence. He said that ECUST was ready to bring its unique education programs to the students across the globe and promote the development of the program.
Representatives from partner universities of the program shared their opinions at the meeting. With all partner universities working together to provide students with knowledge and skills in business and management as well as unique experience in different cultures, the program helps students increase their international vision. The IBoS meeting, held twice each year, promotes the communication and collaboration between partner universities.
In the meeting, the representatives discussed about the situation of current classes, student handbook, recruitment and other issues related to the program’s future development.
On the sidelines, the representatives visited the Institute of Clean Coal Technology of ECUST, a national-level lab in China, learning about the advanced equipment and the achievements that the Institute has made.
The meeting was also attended by SHEN Haitao, Director of General Office, University Council, MA Ling, Head of ECUST Business School Council, YAN Haifeng, Dean of ECUST School of Business, PENG Delei and LI Xiaopeng from the International Affairs Office of ECUST, as well as HUANG Lujin, Professor, ZHAO Yan, Assistant Dean and QIN Yiqiong, Lecturer, from the ECUST School of Business.
MIEX is a multiple degree Master program fully taught in English designed to train its participants to be the international business leaders of tomorrow. It is a two-year, postgraduate program that prepares students not only to meet the operational demands of businesses in the global marketplace but also places them in positions that are highly valued and in demand.
The first year core teaching modules are divided into two semesters held in ICN Business School France and The University of Bologna Italy. In the second year, MIEX students choose a specialization area and are hosted by the Partner universities: Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, ECUST in China, Universidad La Salle in Mexico and MGIMO University in Russia.
Each year, 2 to 4 students from ECUST join the MIEX program, and 15 to 25 overseas students come to ECUST for their second-year study. As of now, ECUST has hosted a total of 212 overseas students from this program.
