
From November 7th to 8th, the 2024 Board Meeting of the "Master in International Management" (MIEX) program, jointly established by six universities from Asia, Europe, and Latin America, was convened at East China University of Science and Technology. Prof. Fan Tijun, Dean of the Business School at East China University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Peng Zeyu, Director of the International Exchange and Accreditation Office, met with Kamel MNISRI, Chairman of the MIEX Management Committee, Christine KRATZ, Program Director at ICN Business School in France, Lehman MARKEL, Dean of the Business School at La Salle University in Mexico, and Desilus BENDREFF, Director of the International Graduate Program. Giulio ECCHIA, Director of the MIEX program at the University of Bologna in Italy, and Shuela SUBRIZI, Program Supervisor, participated in the meeting online. Zhou Haibo, Director of the Admissions and Alumni Office of the School of International Education, Ms. Dong Haiyi, Director of the Graduate Education Management Center of the Business School, and Dr. Ye Sheng, Executive Director of the International Exchange Program, also attended the meeting.
Fan Tijun first extended a warm welcome to all the visiting representatives and expressed his gratitude to the partner universities for their efforts in advancing cooperation with ECUST. He pointed out that the MIEX program integrates resources from six distinctive universities, creating a unique international learning experience for students, which is of profound significance.
Representatives from all partner universities actively communicated at the meeting, expressing their gratitude for the support provided by East China University of Science and Technology in promoting the development of the MIEX project, and fully affirming the dedication and contributions of the business school's faculty to the project. They highly praised the significant progress made by East China University of Science and Technology in academic construction and student cultivation.
The core topics of this management committee meeting focused on how to further enhance the training effectiveness of the MIEX project, promote in-depth interdisciplinary and cross-cultural cooperation, and jointly create value through innovative methods to integrate into the global education ecosystem. The meeting also discussed the optimization of project features, such as promoting diversity, inclusiveness, and student mobility. In addition, specific matters such as the academic progress of students in the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, issues in project management, and the recruitment plan for the new intake of students were exchanged and discussed.
After the meeting, Peng Zeyu led the representatives from various schools on a tour of the Business School building, providing a detailed introduction to the School's development history, subject construction, student situation, and the layout of key research institutes. The representatives highly recognized the achievements of the School in promoting academic development and cultivating composite international talents, especially affirming the School's active efforts in subject construction and research institute innovation. The representatives believed that the School has laid a solid foundation for the future development of the project by promoting multidisciplinary collaboration and deepening international cooperation.
The Master in International Management(MIEX), was jointly established in 2007 by six renowned universities worldwide, including East China University of Science and Technology in China, ICN Business School in France, University of Bologna in Italy, ICN Business School (Berlin Campus) in Germany, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, and La Salle University in Mexico. The triple-degree master's program aims to cultivate students' ability to view the world from different perspectives through international teaching, apply the management knowledge they have learned in international business practice, and become composite international management talents that meet the requirements of enterprises.
As one of the founding members of the MIEX program, East China University of Science and Technology annually selects Chinese students to participate in the program and receives international students recommended by the partners to study at our university. This program not only provides our students with abundant international learning opportunities but also brings many excellent international students to our school, promoting mutual understanding and respect among students from different cultural backgrounds, and making a positive contribution to creating an international campus environment.
